We aim to support early career researchers with ambitions of creating their own, independent research identity, and with the potential to significantly contribute to research in technical and natural sciences at a Danish research institution.
From 2021, the Villum Young Investigator programme has been supplemented with YIP extension grants aka. YIP + to secure a stable research career for the most talented Villum Young Investigators. A YIP+ grant is up to DKK 4 million and cannot cover the salary of the applicant. The YIP+ grant period is up to three years from 2022. The YIP + grant period is up to three years.
The fourth year of their five-year grant period, Villum Young Investigators will receive an invitation to apply for a new four-year project. It is expected that 10-15 YIPs can apply each year, of which up to about five may obtain a YIP + grant.
VILLUM FONDEN supports internationalisation, and with the Villum Young Investigator Programme we encourage Danish universities to support and recruit Danish as well as international researcher talents.
